Venturers is about leadership and adventure!
Venturers create and run their own programmes and use their experiences to push boundaries and become leaders in their communities.
As a Venturer you will:
- Create lasting friendships and connect with others across the country.
- Plan and lead your own adventurous experiences.
- Learn important skills for life and tackle the big issues facing the young people of today.
- Create a positive impact in your communities.
- Participate in National and International Events, like Venture, Regional Camps, National Schools, and World Jamboree.
The Award structure is similar to The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Aotearoa NZ / Hillary Award, meaning that many achievements count for both. The highest award is the King’s Scout Award, which is presented by the Governor General of New Zealand.
Venturers have organised multi-day tramping and camping expeditions. They are regularly out in the local community as part of our service ethos. Let us know if you want help! For Venturers who want to take their skills further, Scouts Aotearoa offers National Schools—specialised programmes held across New Zealand. These immersive experiences provide expert instruction and hands-on learning in areas such as canoeing, caving, tramping, mountaineering, photography, sailing and aviation.
