Cubs

Ages 8 to 11

Cubs is about experimenting and exploring!

Cubs is all about trying new things, working together, and having fun outdoors. As a Cub, you will:

  • Make new friends and learn teamwork
  • Go on exciting adventures like camping, bushwalking, and kayaking
  • Explore your creativity and learn practical skills
  • Take part in community activities and cultural experiences
  • Join in fun events like Pinewood Derby, Mudslide Day, and JOTI (Jamboree on the Internet)

Cubs is a place to experiment, explore, and grow—whether you’re building something, cooking outdoors, or learning how to navigate in nature. Every week brings something new, and every activity helps build confidence and curiosity.

Words from our Cubs

“I really like it – especially the camps. Part of that is the food – having a delicious breakfast – and I like staying in the tents with friends. We decide some of the things we will do, which is great, it means that we get to do what we like to do. I really liked when we did pottery making and the night hikes. The last night of term is really fun when we have campfires and songs and the parents come and do tug of war with the Cubs.”

At Cubs, we live by three simple values that guide everything we do:

  • Have Respect – for ourselves, others, and the environment
  • Do What’s Right – even when it’s hard
  • Be Positive – give things a go

Cubs work toward a variety of badges and awards that celebrate their effort, learning, and progress. The Cub programme encourages young people to try new things and challenge themselves. Badges cover areas like outdoor skills, creativity, teamwork, and community service. Every badge earned is a step forward in confidence and capability.
